The Three S’s of Corporate Video Production

It’s come to a point in the industry where Corporate Video is no longer optional for a marketing campaign. Just look around the web, and you’ll see that every major company out there has some type of video on their site. Which would you prefer when you visit a web site; having to read a lengthy description, or being shown a well-made video?

Corporate videos can show a consumer what a certain product is all about in less than a few minutes, and a well-designed one can hold their attention while doing so. Let’s take a look at the three S’s of corporate video production: Story, Script, and Style.

The Story

First of all, you need to brainstorm. What do you want to show in your video? What message do you want to get across? Who is the intended audience? Think of an overall theme and purpose that you want this video to convey.

The Script

Now you need to get out the ol’ pencil (or keyboard) and put your story into words. What will the Narrator say? Who are the characters/actors and what will they do? The script is vital in production of your video since it contains all the information that will be conveyed in the final video.

The Style

Perhaps the most import decision you have to make is regarding the final style of your corporate video. This involves the overall tone of you video and the type of animations and graphics it will contain.

Style #1: Let’s get serious

Need a business minded, serious tone to your video? With the proper visuals and corporate style graphics, you can get a sleek, professional feel. Just check out this short video intro made for CNN, it oozes with ‘business-y’ overtones yet maintains a fun and fresh feel:

Style #2: Fun and informative

Have a younger, more hip audience in mind? Animation is your answer. Unique characters and backgrounds can give your product a refreshing look and capture the attention of viewers. This video for Pad Matcher shows that a fun and colorful video can still look professional and get your message to a wide audience:

Style #3: Live Action!

No we’re not making a Turtle Man reference, we’re talking abut real live people in your video. When it’s necessary, including live video footage and people can show in more detail how a product can be used in real life situations and give your corporate video a more, well, human feel.
